Brooks Men's Ricochet Running Shoes - Lightweight Cushioned Sneakers for Road & Trail Running - Perfect for Jogging, Training & Gym Workouts

My first Brooks running shoe was the PureConnect 2, which fit my foot (wide toe area narrow heel) like a glove and was very responsive. Loved that shoe. Bought the next 2 versions which were successively not as good for me as the PC2 but still acceptable. They discontinued the PC series and I bought the PureFlow 3 which really didn't work well for me. Low volume toebox and not responsive at all. Kind of sloppy. So this Ricochet is my latest attempt. The toebox is roomy and wide enough. However, the 8mm drop is better suited for heel strikers I think, and the heel area is kind of sloppy for me as well. I have a midfoot strike and very neutral orientation, and don't want to develop a heel-striking habit.And have no idea why they put that band around the ankle - just for looks? It does nothing for support or comfort and the Achilles area dug into my heel the first time I wore them, causing a blister. Partially my fault for wearing socks that were too low. Wouldn't wear these with bare feet.The shoes are okay but with every new iteration Brooks are getting worse for me. Wish they would make something like the PC2 again. Haven't tried another brand in almost ten years but might be time.Should mention I normally wear a 10.5 or 11 but with Brooks I always have had to size up to 11.5, and this model was no exception.I got these for my 14 year old daughter. They may work for you.I am definitely happier with more cushioning; these are euphemistically 'firm' and do not provide the level of cushioning I am comfortable with (aka, Brooks Revel). I would not wear these for longer outings.Second, they do not provide much in the way of grip on wet surfaces. I had a couple of slips on damp, not wet, road surfaces I have taken without a problem maybe 100 times previously, sometimes in the rain.6 runs usage feedback:I've been wearing Brooks on and off for 15 years, this is the best set I've owned out of all my running trainers.I'm 20 stone, run 2/3 times a week over 5-10km and have previously had ankle reconstruction so I like good feedback from my trainers. They are lightweight, fairly minimal but giveperfect support and absorption giving perfect feedback and cushioning.I am an old, slow jogger, so don’t need an expensive lightweight ‘marathon pro’ shoe, or a shoe to win at Parkrun, so thought I’d treat myself to this Brooks brand for a change. They are comfy and as good as any mid range shoe I have used in the past and I love the colour design and cushioning.Lenght is ok-ish, medium width is for sure not regular... Feels like wearing loose sandals. Comfy for walking but terrible for running. Even with 2 layer socks I developed massive blisters and sole is not soft at all.Exactly what I wantedQuesta è la mia quinta Brooks. Vengo da Ghost 9-10-11 e Launch 5. Il numero calza come le altre. Appena indossate si sente subito l'estrema comodità del colletto e della conchiglia veramente molto avvolgente del tallone. Nella corsa sono leggermente più secche delle Ghost ma comunque ben ammortizzate. Scarpa comodissima e avvolgente, forse la miglior Brooks fino ad ora provata. Favolose.
